West River Railroad Poem

West River Railroad Poem

West River Trail Do you know anything about Beulah Tinson Osgood? Jason Cooper found this poem tucked into an old book about the West River Railroad. It’s a wonderful story about one person’s experience years ago with the West River Railroad. If you know anything about the poem or the poet, please leave a comment! Thanks!

Historical Society of Windham County

In October, 2014, the Historical Society of Windham County acquired the Newfane Railroad Station in Newfane, Vermont. The property includes the old depot building and the water tank building, both of which were built in 1880 under the auspices of the Brattleboro – Whitehall Railroad (later called The West River Railroad.)

The Windham County Historical Society has restored the Station as a Museum of the West River Railroad and as an annex to its County Museum in Newfane. The Railroad Station property is a short walk from the County Museum. Click HERE for a slide show of the grand opening on October 14, 2017. The Museum is open from Memorial Day weekend in May through Columbus Day weekend in October, and is located on the main street (Rt.30) in Newfane, VT.

FWRT

Organized in 1992, the Friends of the West River Trail (FWRT) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the establishment of a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry.
Please spread the word about the West River Trail to anyone who may be interested in knowing about it, volunteering their talents or making a donation. Thank you!
